Wonderlane

Many people suffer from back problems, whether they’re young or old and male or female. Regular back pain can plague your life, making you lose sleep and spend your day feeling uncomfortable. You might feel like you have to take medication all the time, and you don’t want to, or perhaps what you were taking no longer works. But there are many home remedies you can try if you’re suffering from back problems. You may simply need to change the position you sleep in, do a bit more exercise or do some stretches. As well as dealing with the pain when it arises, there are lots of ways you can help to prevent more pain in the future.

Ice the Pain

Although it might feel pleasurable to apply something heated to your sore back, it’s better to use ice or a cold compress. The coolness of the ice helps to relax your muscles, whereas heat can encourage more inflammation, even if it helps you feel better. If you’ve injured yourself, apply ice to your back in the first 48 hours, and then switch to heat later if you prefer. But if the pain persists, make an appointment with your doctor.

Do Some Stretches

Unfortunately, a lot of us spend much of our time sitting at desks during the working day. This habit isn’t very healthy for our backs, so it’s essential that you get up and stretch now and then. Get up and have a small walk around the office or just do some stretches next to your desk to help work the kinks out of your back. When you are sitting down, down hunch over or slump down too far. You should have your feet firmly on the floor, with a chair that supports your lower back.

Rethink Your Sleeping Position

Your bed or the way you sleep could be the culprit that causes your back pain. First, consider the position in which you sleep. If you sleep on your stomach, putting a pillow underneath your lower abdomen and pelvis can help to ease the pain in your back. If you sleep on your back, a pillow under your knees might help. And if you lie on your side, you should try drawing your knees up and putting a pillow between them. However, it could be your bed itself that you need to change. Buying a more supportive mattress, such as a memory foam mattress can take some strain off your back. Better mattresses are more expensive, but it’s worth it to get a good night’s sleep.

Go for a Walk

It’s important that we keep our spines healthy by moving around. Regular walks are a gentle form of exercise that can improve your back problems immensely. You can also try swimming, cycling or aerobic exercise to get you moving and strengthen your back muscles.

If you don’t know where to start, talk to your doctor for advice. You can start tackling your back pain and move toward a happier and healthier life.
