Healthy Habits We Should All Take Up
If there’s something most of us can do nowadays to become healthier versions of ourselves, it’s change the habits we currently have. Habits vary from person to person, but they can be anything from smoking to not getting enough sleep. You probably know what your bad habits are, so we won’t go into those. Instead, take a look at these healthy habits that we should all take up:
Drink More Water
Most people don’t drink enough water because they just don’t seem to be thirsty enough. However, you shouldn’t wait until you’re thirsty to have a drink! Getting thirsty is a sign that your body is already dehydrating. Drink at least 2 litres a day. I like to drink more than 3 litres, as I exercise and drink coffee.
Get More Sleep
How much sleep do you currently get? The average person should get around 8 good hours a night to be able to function optimally the next day. However, too much sleep could have the opposite effect. You can find apps to help you monitor your sleep, or even activity trackers. Try to go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning.
Exercise
Exercise is a must. Humans were not made to sit at desks and on sofas all day long. We were made to run away from predators and to find food before it was too late! Even if you can only commit to getting your exercise a couple of times a week, it’s better to build that habit than no habit at all.
Eat More Natural Foods
If the foods you eat are full of artificial ingredients and sugar, you could be setting yourself up for a lot of health problems in future. The more natural you make your food, the better. Ideally, it won’t come with an ingredients list! If it does, the ingredients should be minimal. Allow yourself the odd treat, but don’t go mad.
Drink More Tea
Tea can have so many benefits on the body. Green tea is thought to help speed the metabolism and flush out toxins, while tea like chamomile can help us drift off to sleep. You should be able to find some type of tea you like, as there’s a wide range to choose from. To get an idea of what’s out there, take a look at www.shophyson.com. Try not to add sugar and milk to make it as healthy as possible!
Meditate
Some of the healthiest and most successful people in the world meditate, so it only makes sense to get in on the act. There are programs and apps these days that can help, so you don’t feel silly sat chanting ‘ommm’ by yourself.
Positive Thinking
Speak to yourself as you would a friend. Control the inner voice that dishes out negative thoughts and feelings. You should find that the more you think in a positive nature, the more your life will take a positive turn.
Take these habits up now and you’ll love the difference they make!
